The Audio/Video edition of NGO-in-a-Box is a toolkit that lowers the entry level for NGOs, non-profits and media activists wanting to use audio and video for social change. It is a collection of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) tools, documentation and tutorials that introduce you to the world of FOSS and the low-cost technology that is transforming the balance of forces in the realm of media production.

Traditionally audio and video production and distribution have been cost prohibitive for many people, particularly for those in developing countries. New technologies are dramatically changing that. Tactical Tech and EngageMedia have collaborated to put together a toolkit that lowers the entry level for organisations and individuals wanting to use audio and video as a tool for social change. UPDATE: November 07

Tactical Tech is happy to announce the web release of the Portuguese version of the Audio/Video NGO-in-a-Box. The create the Portuguese edition Tactical Tech teamed up with Casa Brasil and Estúdio Livre who labored hard to translate the content over the last year, mostly working as volunteers.

The A/V Portuguese edition will also be made available as a physical toolkit in the coming months, as per other editions of NGO-in-a-box. In addition to the tools aggregated on the Audio/Video site the physical edition will also contain a localised Portuguese multimedia focussed Linux operating system.

We've made some small but significant improvements to the Audio/Video box. We've added some new tools, upgraded to the latest versions of the software and made it easier for you to browse the site and find what you are looking for.

Audio/Video in a Box

The off-line Edition of the Audio/Video Box is targeted at users who have limited internet access. It is a three CD box set comprising a printed booklet and CD with the contents of this website along with the profiled tools and related documentation and tutorials. It also includes a copy of the GNU/Linux operating system Dyne:bolic and a copy of the OpenCD.
